Easy Sourdough Rolls The Southern Lady Cooks

These little sourdough rolls are so easy to make and my family loves them. They are only SIX ingredients! This is a great way to use your sourdough starter. If I am making these for a gathering, I’ll make them small and serve them as mini ham sandwiches for an appetizer. They are also wonderful with jellies,  jams, ham salad, or pimento cheese spread.   You could also make these rolls larger and make around 10 of them instead of 20- 25 small ones.  The larger rolls are great for sliders.  These rolls are fluffy and delicious and great any way you make them!

Easy Sourdough Roll Ingredients Needed:

All-purpose flour

Baking soda

Baking powder

Salt

Sourdough starter

Butter, melted

If you like this recipe, you may love our sourdough cinnamon rolls! They are always such a hit when I serve them. Plus, they are super simple.

“I made these for a Derby party. I served them with your pimento cheese and ham. Everyone LOVED them!!”-Teresa

Servings: 20 small rolls

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1/4 cup butter or 4 tablespoons melted
  • Whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Stir in the starter and butter. Turn out on a floured surface and knead about 8 or nine times. Grease a 9 inch cake pan or cast iron skillet with cooking oil and pinch off pieces of dough and roll into balls about the size of a walnut. Cover with a dish towel and place in warm spot. (I put on top of stove while it is heating). Let rise for 1 hour.

  • Bake in preheated 425 degree oven for 20 minutes until golden brown. Makes 20-25 small rolls.
