Whole Wheat Biscuits - The Southern Lady Cooks

These delicious Whole Wheat Biscuits are super easy to make and wonderful with butter and jelly. If you have followed our site for any amount of time you know we absolutely LOVE biscuits. Whole Wheat Biscuits Ingredients Needed:

All-purpose flour

Whole wheat flour

Baking powder

Salt

Shortening

Buttermilk

Sugar

Baking soda

We love to use buttermilk in our biscuit recipes, it really does make biscuits taste wonderful! So many great toppings you can add and in the Fall we love fresh apple butter.   • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Mix together flours, baking powder, salt, sugar and soda.  Cut in shortening.

  • Add buttermilk and mix with a spoon until dough is formed.  Roll out and cut with biscuit cutter.

  • Spray baking sheet and cook in preheated 425 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes.  Makes 12 biscuits.
