A Bumper Crop of Mushrooms – 2013

This year we have received various reports of a bumper crop of mushrooms in the Northwest.  The following are a few shots of various fungi that we encountered on a recent “wet hike” through the Tualatin Hills Nature Park:

We encountered this gem, which frankly scared us, last fall beneath the evergreen just out front.  Its cap was the size of a small Frisbee:

We immediately scanned the area for signs of Smurf activity to no avail.
